Upcoming Road Races on the South Coast
Run of Two Cities - Saturday, March 4, starting at 9 a.m. on Eighth Terrace (just above the Mingus Park softball diamond). Events include 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer run/walks over a hilly course. The longer race will take runners through downtown North Bend and back to Coos Bay. The event is a fund-raiser for Coos County Special Olympics. The entry fee is $5 ($3 for students). Run for the Babies - Saturday, March 18, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the picnic Gazebo at William Tugman State Park near Lakeside. Events include a kids fun run, a 5-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer walk, all on flat courses. The event is a fund-raiser for the North Bend High School Mr. Bulldog Pageant, with all proceeds going to the care and treatment of premature babies in Oregon through the Children's Miracle Network and Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene. The entry fee is $15 without a T-shirt or $25 with a shirt for people who register by March 10 and $20 (without a shirt) on race day. There is no fee for the fun run, which is for children up to 12 years old.
