€ June 2003: Coos County awards Florida-based MasTec Inc. $23.3 million contract to bury a 12-inch natural gas pipeline 60 miles from Roseburg to Coos Bay. The state kicks in $4 million in economic development funds. Taxpayer bonds backed by Lottery dollars to pay for the rest.

€ July 2003: Pipeline construction under way.

€ December 2003: Oregon Department of Environmental Quality cites MasTec with water quality violations.

€ May 2004: Coos County files $8 million lawsuit against MasTec.

€ May 2004: County votes to negotiate contract with Oregon-based Rockford Corporation to replace MasTec Inc. and complete the pipeline project.

€ August 2004: Colorado-based Energy Products Development LLC announces it wants to build a $150 million liquid natural gas terminal on Coos Bay's North Spit. The tank would be built on 90 acres of private land and hold 90,000 metric tons of LNG. Two ships carrying 75,000 metric tons of LNG would arrive monthly.

€ November 2004: Energy Projects Development, a Colorado company hoping to build an import liquid natural gas facility on the North Spit, has submitted a notice of intent to file for a building certificate from the Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council.

€ Jan. 13, 2005: Northwest Natural officially pushes pure natural gas into the Coos County pipeline.

€ April 2005: Bob Braddock the local manager of the Jordan Cove Energy Project suggests there might be a need for a second 24-inch pipeline. Project developers propose two smaller LNG tanks rather than one.

€ July 2005: Calgary, Canada-based Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P. merges with Energy Projects Development to develop Jordan Cove LNG facility.

€ Oct. 21, 2005: Oregon International Port of Coos Bay agrees to begin negotiations to buy 1,300 acres of Weyerhaeuser's North Spit land. Jordan Cove would get 200 of the acres. Project would include construction of two-ship berth at LNG terminal.

€ Feb. 8, 2006: Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Williams' Northwest Pipeline and Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P. announce they want to build a 36-inch natural gas pipeline, stretching 250 miles from Jordan Cove to Malin, southeast of Klamath Falls.
