Lucero honored as top coach
Bill Lucero has been named Coach of the Season for the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon's 2005 basketball season.
“Bill has always been quick to volunteer as a coach, works well with kids and stresses teamwork and sportsmanship,” said Karen Bauder of the Boys & Girls Club. “No matter how many kids register, he accepts them all, forming as many teams as necessary.”
Lucero, who is principal at North Bend High School, has coached North Bend teams for several years.
Meanwhile, both Lucero and Sally Woodman, who also coaches North Bend teams, were nominated by the Boys & Girls Club for 2005 Coach of the Year awards through the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA program.
While Lucero and Woodman were not selected as finalists, they were awarded “special recognition” status from the nearly 60,000 coaches in the program in the United States, Canada and abroad.
