Four kids and Grandma watch the chip ship, Milky Way, head out into the Pacific Ocean Thursday afternoon. From left, Sye, Charlie Mae, Wyatt and Caiden Yates join their grandmother, Jody Yates, and watch from the south jetty area. The youngstersı grandfather, and Jody Yatesı husband, Charlie Yates, piloted the vessel as it left port. As it rounded the Coos Head area, two blasts sounded from the vesselıs horn. Yates said her husband said he would try to sound a good-bye signal.
