Bus Jam prepares to roll with donated items

The annual Bus Jam is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, in the parking lots of the Coos Bay and North Bend Bi-Mart stores.
Donated food, clothing and toys will be stuffed into two school buses. Donated food will be taken to Coos County food banks, and clothing and toys will be distributed to qualifying families on Dec. 17, held by the Department of Human Services at the Newmark Center. Distribution of gifts and clothing (based upon need) will be held by the Department of Human Services at the Newmark Center.
Items for the Bus Jam include items for teenage girls and boys, watches, T-shirts, bikes, sweatshirts, boxer shorts, pajamas, children’s toys, games, Barbie dolls, baby dolls, books, coats, sports balls, Legos, clothes (all sizes), socks, jewelry and electronic games; gift certificates from McDonalds, Dairy Queen, grocery stores, movie theaters, North Bend Lanes, Big 5 and Sam Goody; and cash donations. Checks can be made out to DHS Community Outreach (specify Bus Jam), and can be mailed to K-DOCK Radio, P.O. Box 478, Coos Bay, OR 97420.
Drop boxes for donations can be found at all McKay’s Markets in Coos County; Bi-Marts at 2131 Newmark Ave., in North Bend, and 550 S. Fourth St., in Coos Bay; Books By the Bay, 1875 Sherman Ave., in North Bend; Bay Cities Ambulance, 3505 S.E. Ocean Blvd., in Coos Bay; and K-DOCK Radio, 3505 S.E. Ocean Blvd.
