Mike Logsdon, 24, and his brother, John Logsdon, 26, both of San Francisco, stopped by The World recently on their way to Ushuaia, Argentina.
The two brothers are riding bicycles to complete a 16,000 mile trip through 13 counties. The journey began in Prudhoe, Alaska, and will end in Argentina, they hope, in May 2006. Their mother died in 1996 of a brain tumor and the brothers are honoring her memory by raising awareness for options for people with the often-deadly condition. Their goal is to raise $50,000 to donate to brain-tumor research. Each day, the two try to ride at least 70 miles before camping each night. They are chronicling their journey on their Web site at www.southward.gearnine.com. |
