BEAVERTON (AP) - One day after returning home, Former Gov. Vic Atiyeh was sent back to the hospital today after having trouble breathing, a family spokesman said.
Two weeks ago, Atiyeh, 82, had suffered a minor heart attack while working in his office in downtown Portland. Doctors performed a quadruple-bypass operation the following day and he was released from the hospital Sunday.
Denny Miles, a family spokesman who served as Atiyeh's press secretary during his two terms, said Monday that nurses at Atiyeh's home called the hospital and told staff he was having trouble breathing. The hospital staff told them to bring him back, Miles said.
Atiyeh, a Republican, served as governor from 1979 to 1987. |
