Hospice seeks help for advisory board

Monday, September 12, 2005 |
Local citizens who are interested in hospice services and quality end-of-life care are being sought to serve on the Curry County Hospice Advisory Board.
There are several vacancies on the board, according to a hospice press release. Applications are being accepted for the positions.
The Curry County Hospice Advisory Board is the volunteer professional policy making committee of Curry County Hospice. It is to include a wide range of professional and lay persons from throughout the county including lay people, consumers and members of private and public business. Members will be selected on the basis of their interest in hospice and in palliative care and should have specialized skills and knowledge which may include, but not be limited to, health care professionals, morticians, lawyers, nursing home representatives, marketing and public relations, banking financial expertise, or political expertise. Current vacancies include a need for representation from the Port Orford/Langlois area in particular.
Applications are reviewed by the current Hospice Advisory Board and Home Health/Hospice Director Lori Kent. Recommendations are then made to the Curry County Board of Commissioners for appointment. Advisory Board members serve two-year terms and may be re-appointed.
Duties of the Hospice Advisory Board include approval and annual review of the Hospice's policies, self-evaluation and serving on sub-committees, which may include fund-raising, education, quality assurance and others. Members also advise on issues related to the hospice program. Members provide increased awareness and advocacy about hospice and hospice services to the community.
For more information, those interested can contact the Curry County Hospice at 247-7084 or (800) 535-9472.
