Voters have until 8 p.m. on Tuesday to turn in their ballots for Coos County special district elections. County officials want to remind residents to sign the back of their ballots, as they have sent some back for improper preparation.

For those new to the state:

Oregon elections are conducted by mail. There are no polling places. Ballots come to individual homes based on voter registration. This year, marking ballots with a pencil is recommended.

People can register at local libraries, post offices and the election office at the Coos County Courthouse in Coquille.

For more information on the Web, go to the county elections page at http://www.co.coos.or.us or call the election office at 756-2020, ext. 241.
