Blanco lighthouse tours fund upkeep
Wednesday, April 20, 2005 11:29 AM PDT
Cape Blanco Lighthouse is open for tours. Visitors can go on a guided tour of the newly renovated lighthouse, stand next to one of the few remaining operational Fresnel lenses on the Oregon Coast, and learn about life at the lighthouse in the early years.
The tours will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily, except Mondays, through Oct. 31. The lighthouse will be open on the Mondays on which a holiday occurs, including Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
The cost for the lighthouse tour is $2 per person, except for visitors 16 years and younger, who are free. In addition, the Golden Age, Golden Access, Oregon Pacific Coast Passport, and the Washington/Oregon Recreation Pass will be honored.
All money collected through the fees for the lighthouse tours remains on site to be used for renovation, maintenance and management of the lighthouse.
Visitors can visit the headland and the Cape Blanco Greeting Center at no charge. |
