House committee meeting in Florence

The House Committee on Rules and Elections will hold a meeting in Florence.
The meetings are part of a series House committees will hold across the state on diverse issues. Election reform measures are a top priority for the 73rd Legislature.
The Florence meeting will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the Florence Events Center, 715 Quince St..
The committee agenda will include public hearings on House Bill 2583, which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote; HB 2551, which would prohibit opening ballots before Election Day; and Senate Bill 162, which would require that all elections be conducted by mail and delete references to polling places.
Elections and rules committee members Rep. Deb Farr, R-Eugene, and Rep. Paul Holvey, D-Eugene, represent House Districts 14 and 8 in Eugene. Rep. Arnie Roblan, D-Coos Bay, represents House District 9, which includes Reedsport and Florence.
