Committee will discuss school zones
Saturday, February 12, 2005 9:05 AM PST

On Monday, the Senate Transportation Committee will address a law that has raised some eyebrows - and more than a few tempers.

The committee, chaired by Sen. Joanne Verger, D-Coos Bay, will be the first panel this legislative session to focus its attention on Senate Bill 488. Passed during the 2003 session, the bill requires drivers to go 20 mph or less in school zones at all times.

The school speed zone changes will be discussed by the committee at 3 p.m. in the state Capitol.
