North Bend defeated visiting South Umpqua 44-21 Thursday night in a Far West League wrestling dual.
"Our kids wrestled well and under control," said North Bend head coach David Allison.
The Bulldogs had five pins, including Dan Kintner's pin over the Lancers' Mike Hill in 47 seconds at 189 pounds.
"Dan Kintner wrestled sick and up a weight class and still had the fastest pin of the night," said Allison.
Other pins for North Bend were by Travis Witters (160 pounds), Austin Kintner (171), Shawn Fletcher (135) and Jerad Jaehnig (275).
North Bend also got a decision by Garrett Caldwell at 125 pounds and won two matches by forfeit.
The Lancers had pins by Danny Farmer (119) and Travis Nordyke (130).
Vikings edge Hawks
Siuslaw dominated the lower weights in a 40-35 victory over host La Pine in a match of two of the Sky-Em League's top programs.
La Pine only won one bout in the lower eight weight classes.
The Vikings got pins by Brian Stevens (119 pounds), Mitchel Lemhouse (125), David Dallas (130), Ryan Thompson (135) and Andrew Sims (145). Siuslaw also got a major decision by Nick Lutz at 215 pounds and won another match by forfeit.
SWIMMING
Bulldogs split
North Bend's boys and girls swimming teams beat Blanchet but lost to Phoenix in a double dual at North Bend Municipal Pool on Thursday.
North Bend's girls had winners in all but one of the individual events, but Phoenix used depth to win the dual with the Bulldogs by a 91-76 score.
Denise Green won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke for the Bulldogs. Kim Jasmer took both the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, Elexia Morris won the 50 freestyle, Sarah Brown took the 100 butterfly and Ashley Kunz won the 100 freestyle.
Jasmer, Brown,Morris and Green teamed to win the 400 freestyle relay.
The Bulldogs beat Blanchet 100-46.
In the boys meet, Austin Nicholls won both the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke for the Bulldogs, while Nicholas Fowler won the 200 freestyle and Ephraim Morris took the 100 butterfly.
Phoenix swept the relays and won the other individual events. The Pirates beat the Bulldogs 87-74, but North Bend beat Blanchet 121-27.
Schedule changes
Marshfield's swimming meet against Thurston, the Pirates' final home meet of the season at Mingus Park, has been moved up two days to Jan. 25.
Marshfield also moved a wrestling match with Sheldon, that had been scheduled for Wednesday, has been moved to Jan. 25 at Pirate Palace.
Free hoops
Marshfield HighSchool will not charge admission for tonight's boys basketball game against Sheldon or Wednesday's girls game against Springfield and also the Marshfield wrestling match with NorthEugene on Jan. 26. That match will be the final home dual meet for coach Wayne Van Burger, who is retiring after this season.
