The Social Security Administration in downtown Coos Bay is moving to a new building at 3661 Broadway in North Bend.

Starting Jan. 18, area residents needing to do business with the agency will have to go to that office, which is across the street from the Goodwill store, one block south of Bay Eye Clinic. The local telephone numbers will remain the same. The office, serving Coos, Curry and Douglas counties, has remained open during the move, but some services may be interrupted after the move. The Social Security office will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Social Security District Manager Curt Benward is urging people to call the agency toll-free at (800) 772-1213 if they need to reach a Social Security representative during the move.
