For two hours Saturday evening, Pony Village Mall at 1611 Virginia Ave., North Bend, will open its doors to those taking part in a fund-raiser for two cancer patients and nonprofit groups on the South Coast.

Pony Village will play host to "A Night to Remember," an admission-only event that will begin after the mall closes to the public at 6:30 p.m. Beginning at 7, ticketholders can visit the shopping center for a night of food, live music and special discounts from mall stores.

Proceeds will benefit Juan Rodriguez, a Coos Bay teenager being treated for leukemia, and Jose Sermeno, an employee of the Red Lion Hotel who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in August.

Agencies also receiving proceeds from the fund-raiser include:

€ Coos Elderly Services;

€ Star of Hope;

€ SHAMA House;

€ Girl Scouts of America;

€ South Coast Food Share;

€ Newspapers in Education;

€ Hauser Citizens Patrol; and

€ the Child Advocacy Center.

Participating nonprofits are selling tickets for $10 each. Those specifically wishing to contribute to Food Share can purchase tickets at three Pony Village locations: Fiddlesticks, Tee Shirt Express and Cuddled Critters. Tickets will be available through the day of the event.

For more information about A Night to Remember, those interested can call Raye Gieseke, manager of Pony Village Mall, at 756-0433.
