Serving the South Coast of Oregon

A log truck passes by Engine 104 at the Oregon Coast Historical Railway museum in Coos Bay on Thursday afternoon. The railroad group will hold its final meeting of the year at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Ramada Inn in North Bend. The members also are planning to move the diesel switch engine stored in a rail garage at the International Paper mill site in Gardiner by the end of the year. The group plans to display that diesel, Engine 111, some day in Coos Bay. Engine 104 was used to haul log cars from the Powers area to mills in Coos Bay. It was replaced by better roads and log trucks like the one passing by in the background. World Photo by Lou Sennick

Proceeds will benefit Juan Rodriguez, a Coos Bay teenager being treated for leukemia, and Jose Sermeno, an employee of the Red Lion Hotel who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in August.

Agencies also receiving proceeds from the fund-raiser include:

€ Coos Elderly Services;

€ Star of Hope;

€ SHAMA House;
