It's here!
Not influenza, but the vaccine.
Coos County Public Health received a small shipment of flu vaccine this week and is offering immunizations to high-risk people. Shots will be available by appointment only. The fee is $20 or the department can bill insurance plans if people bring their enrollment cards to the appointment.
High priority groups include:
€ children 6 to 23 months of age;
€ adults age 65 and older;
€ people ages 2-64 with chronic medical conditions;
€ women who will be pregnant during the flu season;
€ children ages 6 months to 18 years on chronic aspirin therapy;
€ health care workers doing direct patient care; and
€ out-of-home caregivers and household contacts with children younger than 6 months.
To schedule an appointment, those interested can call 756-2020, ext. 510.
