Water warning
World Photo by Madeline Steege The Oregon Department of Human Services issued a public health advisory for Sunset Beach State Park Friday morning. Five signs had been installed alerting visitors at the beach near Charleston. The advisory was posted after water tests found above normal levels of bacteria contamination. The DHS urges visitors and residents of the area to avoid contact with the water at Sunset Bay until the advisory is lifted and to play on dry sand or above the high tide line instead of swimming. Despite the signs, swimmers and waders were in evidence at Sunset Bay at mid-day on Friday.
