The Port of Bandon Commission has appointed two new members to fill vacancies created due to the deaths last month of longtime commissioners.
Coquille resident Steve Martizia has been selected to fill Bob Pierce's spot. Robin Miller, also of Coquille, is slated to take Jim Fleck's seat.
Martizia has a background in longshoring and maritime commerce. Miller is an attorney who has assisted the port with several legal matters in recent months.
Others applying for the vacant positions included former commissioners Hugh McNeil of Bandon and Harold Bryce of Coquille, Bandon resident Mike Sterling, and Stanley Plowman of Coquille.
The new commissioners are expected to take the oath of office at the port's regular meeting at 5 p.m. on Aug. 26 to be held at the boardwalk picnic shelter on the Bandon boardwalk. |
