Nursing home closure to be discussed

Monday, July 26, 2004 |
The Southern Coos Health District Board of Directors is scheduled to hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, in Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon.
Among items to be addressed by the Board are: a final report on the closure of Ocean View Care Center; consideration of a resolution for funding of capital equipment; and long-range goals regarding collections.
The district's board voted earlier this year to close the facility if voters turned down a proposed bond measure this spring that would have funded construction of a modern nursing home adjacent to Southern Coos Hospital.
Most of the former residents were placed in other nursing homes. The last resident moved out on June 29. The nursing home's closure eliminated 39 jobs.
Thursday's meeting will be held in the conference room at the hospital, which is at 900 11th St. S.E.
