Local youngsters learn about the U.S. Coast Guard's rescue operations while examining a craft at the Reedsport Police Department's annual Bicycle Rodeo and Child Safety Fair last weekend.

With the help of USCG Boatsmans Mate Aaron Fitchner, center, and USCG Fireman Christopher McKenzie, kids were able to learn about pyrotechnic vests, life-line tossing and other boat safety issues. More than 75 area children attended the annual event.
