Independence fair at mall
Tuesday, May 18, 2004 12:41 PM PDT

A series of informational "independence fairs" intended to help people with disabilities make informed choices about employment and other issues is scheduled in Oregon communities including North Bend.

The fairs will offer information about employment and independence from the sponsoring Oregon Department of Human Services and State Independent Living Council, and from other organizations such as the Oregon Disabilities Commission and the Oregon Commission for the Blind.

In North Bend, the fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 9, at the Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Ave. Among the services that the fairs will address are Medicaid in-home services; reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act; the federal "ticket to work" program; transportation; housing; and State Library resources.
