Gardiner businessmen could contact anyone on the coast using the Pacific Telephone and Telegraphic line. Sunset Lodge No. 51, IOOF, celebrated its 88th anniversary with 200 partaking in a feast with music by an Irish orchestra. The lodge was instituted March 24, 1875 by Henry G. Streve and located at the Lobree Block by Holm Meat Market, until it was moved in 1889.
