U.S. Coast Guard seeks comments on southern Oregon waterways study

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard is conducting a Waterways Analysis and Management System study of the southern Oregon coast from Cape Arago to the Oregon-California border including: Rogue River, Chetco River and Coquille River. The purpose of the study is to validate the adequacy of the existing aids to navigation system.
The study focuses on the waterway's present aids to navigation system, marine casualty information, port and harbor resources, changes in marine vessel usage (both recreational and commercial), and future development projects.
Comments will be accepted until March 26. To participate in a user survey, those interested can contact: Commander, United States Coast Guard Thirteenth District, 915 Second Ave., Seattle, WA 98174-1067; Attn: BM1 Tim Westcott
Additionally, the Coast Guard will host a meeting to discuss issues related to the study. Time and location for this meeting are to be determined. People interested in attending the meeting can contact Westcott at (206) 220-7285 or by e-mail at twestcott@pacnorwest.uscg.mil.
