€ Don't buy from an unfamiliar company, especially if it's unwilling to answer your questions.
€ Ask for and wait until you receive written material about any offer or charity.
€ Check out unfamiliar companies with your local consumer protection agency, the Better Business Bureau, the attorney general, the National Fraud Information Center or the state's Division of Finance.
€ Take your time making a decision. Discuss big investments offered by telephone salespeople with a trusted friend, family member or financial advisor.
€ Never respond to an offer you don't understand thoroughly.
€ Never send money or give out credit card or bank account numbers to unfamiliar companies.
€ Be aware that any personal or financial information you provide may be sold to other companies.

To have your phone numbers placed on the national "Do Not Call" registry, call (888) 382-1222 from the number you want blocked.
