The North Bend Municipal Airport's flights to and from Portland have been canceled for the second day due to a weather-related closure at Portland International Airport.

Airport Manager Gary LeTellier in North Bend said the last local flight left the Bay Area on Tuesday morning. Federal Express isn't flying either.

"No one in Oregon is flying," LeTellier said. "It's a disaster."

Four flights per day typically leave North Bend for Portland. The financial impact on the North Bend airport is unclear but LeTellier said the cost of losing business is larger than the dollar amount. "We have people from the holidays trying to get home or trying to get here, business people, family emergencies ... you can't put a price tag on that," LeTellier said.

Travelers are advised to check flight status on the Web site at hor izonair.com or call (800) 547-9308.

What a lucky young man to have someone who cares enough about him to guide him in a way to build character.

I am sad to see the tower go..I used to take my children (Now grown) there to fish for the perch under the pilings. But I am even sadder to see the originally proposed boardwalk will no longer be a part of the development. I was looking forward to walking my Grandchildren down it.

Thank God there was no mention of supposed "global warming." It's nice to see unbiased, factual (not speculative) reporting.
