The NW Natural Gas portion of the pipeline project is moving up Woodland Drive from Newmark Avenue in North Bend, Tuesday afternoon, as crews dig a trench and install a gas main and lateral pipes. Crews, shown here, are working at the Woodland Drive and Thompson Road intersection. When completed, the lines will connect to the site near the Coos Bay-North Bend Water Board property where the Coos County portion of the project will end. The lateral lines being installed will carry natural gas through the distribution system around Coos Bay and North Bend, and a larger pipeline will run from the terminal to the North Spit. The workers have begun laying lines onto Broadway Avenue and Woodland Drive, progressing from the Empire area and down Newmark Avenue.
