Neutermobile plans extra clinics

Oregon Neutermobile organizers say the organization has been overwhelmed by the demand for its low-cost spay/neuter services, and will extend its stay in Coos County. Hosted by All 4 Animals Inc., a local all-volunteer non-profit organization, the neutermobile has been operating out of space at the Pony Village Mall in North Bend.
Neutermobile dates currently planned are Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Additional dates will include Oct. 5-8, Oct. 12-15 and Oct. 18-20.
The clinic will run three days a week for as long as the demand, funds and volunteers hold out.
Surgeries will be $20 per male cat, $30 per female cat, $50 per male dog and $60 per female dog, with discounts for bringing in five or more animals on the same clinic day. Additional discounts for those on public assistance will be offered only as long as the funding lasts.
During the neutermobile's last stay in Coos County, 210 pets were altered during two clinics, one in Pony Village and one in Coquille. Forty percent were done for owners on public assistance at substantial discounts made possible by a generous donation made to All 4 Animals by Karla Kaudel of K&K Sound in the memory of her late mother.
Dr. Rebecca Henry and Dr. Terry McCoy, two veterinarians traveling with ON, are so experienced with spay/neuter surgeries, they are able to safely and conscientiously alter a high number of patients. Because of the speed that comes with practice, the animals need to be under anesthetic for less time, making the surgery both safer and less expensive.
Because ON's surgeons use dissolvable sutures, no follow-up with ON is needed, although clients are urged to visit their local vets for health checks and vaccinations. Puppies and kittens at least 8 weeks old or weighing more than 2 pounds can be done. Females in heat or pregnancy will be altered at no extra charge. Lactating females with young at least 5 weeks old can be done. Feral cats will not be turned away and the neutermobile also will alter other small pets, such as rabbits and ferrets.
Clients must make appointments by calling 266-8632 and must pay at least seven days in advance. Walk-ins will be taken if any spots are available. Call early on the day of surgery to learn if walk-ins will be accepted. Appointments are given for check-in between 8 and 9:30 a.m. with walk-ins at 10.
