This year's Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, set for Thursday, May 29; will begin in the morning at the California border and continue northbound on Highway 101, reaching the city of Bandon by the evening. The goal is to carry the Special Olympics torch all the way through Curry County, representing law enforcement's support for Oregon Special Olympics.

Law enforcement agencies in Curry County will organize and participate in the run, which can include volunteer runners, walkers and bicyclists. All participants will receive a 2003 Torch Run t-shirt.

Fund-raising will also be part of the run this year. Some law enforcement agencies will be selling Torch Run T-shirts for $10, with all proceeds going to Oregon Special Olympics. Runners are also encouraged to seek sponsors who will make donations on their behalf.
