Public hearing for the Bandon Dunes expansion proposal set for Wednesday

Saturday, April 12, 2003 |
The Coos County Board of Commissioners will hold public hearings at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 and Wednesday, April 30, on proposed amendments to the Coos County Comprehensive Plan and zoning and land development ordinance.
The plan amendments are sought by Howard McKee, for Bandon Dunes, LP, and Bally Bandon, LP, owners of the properties.
Bandon Dunes is proposing to add 925 acres to the existing 1215 acre Bandon Dunes Resort.
The Coos County Planning Commission unanimously approved the request at a hearing on Feb. 27. The proposal now requires approval from the Board of Commissioners.
The hearings will be held in the planning conference room at the Courthouse Annex, 290 North Central in Coquille.
The applicants are asking for an exception to Statewide Planning Goals regarding agricultural lands, forest lands, public facilities and services and urbanization, in order to redesignate the property for the resort expansion.
There are three physically separate areas within the proposed expansion area. The primary expansion area consists of 824.85 acres located north of the existing Bandon Dunes Resort, south of Whisky Run Road.
