Ten North Bend High School students from the pre-employment class sponsored by South Coast Business Employment Corp. successfully completed a community project they began in early December.

The class chose to coordinate with Community Safety Net and, working through Carin Beesley, gathered food, clothing and grooming supplies to assist Community Safety Net with its efforts to aid families in the local area.

One student wrote letters and collected supplies and hygiene products from local hotels and dentists. Another student held a raffle for a donated chain saw-sculpted bear. Others gathered clothing and food and sold raffle tickets.

Mike Swindall won the bear and the students raised a total of $201, which was given to Community Safety Net along with a good supply of food, blankets, clothing and paper products.
